Thoughts from the Chatsworth Primary Hallway

Today marks the end of semester one of the 2014-2015 school year.  We have had a great semester with lots of learning in our classrooms and the application of the learning outside the classroom. The learning continued to be fun, exciting and met with enthusiasm by the students throughout the semester.  Today's  performance at the wonderful Christmas Concert was a typical example of this enthusiasm.  We look forward to an exciting semester two as it begins in January 2015.

I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday, and a wonderful start to 2015.  Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a continued partnership in in semester two.

Thoughts from the Chatsworth Primary Hallway

As we begin to wind down the calendar year, we reflect on the months since the school year began in August and plan for the 2015-2016 school year.  It seems crazy to begin so early, but the recruitment fairs begin in January 2015 in my home town of Melbourne, followed by Bangkok.  I am fortunate enough to be going to the fairs with the Senior Leadership Team so that we can seek out the best possible staff to join us in August 2015.  Exciting times lay ahead.

This week has been an exceptional week, kicked off by an excellent Parent Cafe titled Cultivating Creativity in PYP Maths led by Carla Heard, Michael Lucchesi and Ben Drury.  These teachers presented a hands-on workshop highlighting ways in we teach mathematics in the primary school here at Chatsworth.  If you have not had a chance to join us for a Parent CafĂ©, please give it a try, I can ensure you that you will not be wasting your time!

Preparations are in full force for the up and coming Christmas Concert next Friday.  Please remember that you are entitled to two tickets per family, please see this form for more details.  We hope you can join us. Please note that all the children will be returning to school by bus after the concert, so they can return to their classrooms and will be dismissed from school at 12.20pm.

The Year Six PYP Exhibition kicked off this week with a parent meeting.  The Year Six teachers and the PYP Coordinator discussed the process they will be taking (and already taking) to ignite their students' passion, the major focus for the Exhibition. A great presentation that gave the Year Six parents an insight into what's to come for their children.

The week ended with another fun " House Day" activity day, as well as a special visit from Santa and his helpers!  The students were very excited to be seeing Santa and very thankful for their special gifts. I would especially like to thank Santa and his helpers for spending the whole day visiting all of the classrooms. I noticed a while ago Santa's helpers in "Santa's Workshop" preparing all the gifts for the children, what a very special group of helpers we have at Chatsworth.

Enjoy the photos of the week, and I look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Concert on Friday.

We Need Your Help
for the
Spring Musical

The Drama Department will be putting on Ali Baba and the 14 Thieves in February at the Raffles Jubilee Theater.  The students and the drama department do the entire production themselves and have asked if there are parents who are willing to help with the production.
They are looking for parents who have experience or are willing to help in the areas of:

  • Costumes - sewing and creating costumes
  • Set Design
  • Lighting Design
  • Playing a musical instrument
  • Providing food for rehearsals

If you have a background or an interest in any of these areas and can donate a bit of time please email us at cpg@chatsworth.com.sg.

It is going to be a fabulous production in a beautiful space!  Please consider donating just a few hours of your time.
