Thoughts from the Chatsworth Primary Hallway

This second week back into school has been an exciting week, particularly for our kindergarten students.  All of the classes have settled into their new routines, our kindergarten classes are off and running, with only a few tears by some.  Separating from mum and dad can be difficult for some, but after a short while all the tears are gone, and the fun begins!

Thank you to all the EY and JY parents who attended our Orientation evenings this week where we were able to meet as a group as well as have you meet your child’s teacher in their classroom.  Thank you for all of your positive comments about our programme and about our primary school.  The parent-school connection is very important to us, and we invite you to continue to support the school as we pursue this academic year. Click here to see the EY and JY presentations.

The haze situation returned today, and all the students were kept inside for all breaks and lunch.  Our students are quite resourceful and spent their breaks in quite a variety of play situations.

Meet Our Staff

Perspectives from the PYP Coordinator

19 August

Divergent thinking is the way Sir Ken Robinson, world-renowned education and creativity expert, believes that education must develop in the 21st century. His reasoning stems from the fact that we are unable to predict what will happen tomorrow in our world so how can we know what the world will be like when our students become working professionals. The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme supports the development of divergent thinking in our students. They are encouraged to construct their own understanding, pursue their own personal inquiries and reflect on the ways they can be better global citizens. All of these things are happening in our classrooms at Chatsworth on a daily basis as the students learn to work cooperatively while being principled, open-minded risk-takers. Our open door policy and this year’s parent cafes will allow you to see your children in action as they develop the skills they will need to be successful in the world around them.
