Thoughts from the Chatsworth Primary Hallways

download.jpeg

There are lots of words associated with learning and from the image above you will notice words like work and do are not included.  When you think of how you learn and when I observe children in the classroom, words such as use, teach, people, time, think and workshop are evidenced in our classrooms.  When children are engaged in classes that are using what they have learned, when they are thinking about their learning, when they are given time to internalise their learning, then their learning becomes real. Completing a worksheet has its place, but is an act of doing. Creating is an act of learning, understanding and applying. When I wander around our classrooms I see some “doing”, but I see a lot of thinking and a lot of creating.

6 January

This January, we are privileged to welcome 33 new students into our Primary community. It is exciting to begin 2017 with so many bright, new, shiny faces. Below catch a glimpse of some of them.

The parents of our new students we are able to visit the classrooms, meet the teachers and attend a new parent orientation on Thursday. Mr. Gauci and the Primary Leadership Team welcomed them and were able to give some helpful tips about our school. Sometimes when adapting to a new school environment though, you may have more questions. Please do not hesitate to contact our office with any of your queries.

Thoughts from the Chatsworth Primary Hallways

We celebrated our Learning Journey Concert today. This concert was a performance piece by each year level that correlated to the last unit of inquiry for this semester.  It is always a pleasure to see children sharing their learning and especially when they have so much say into how and what they will perform.

Thank you to all who supported us by either chaperoning on the buses for both the practice and performance days, and by attending the performance today.

Have a Happy Holiday to  all of the Chatsworth Community.  Safe travels and a safe return to Singapore to semester 2 in January 2017.  Those families moving on, I wish you all the very best for your onward journey, where that may be. Thank you for making Chatsworth part of your lives.
