The Primary Years Programme Philosophy
Our Parent Cafe this morning welcomed many new families as well as returning families who wanted to know more about our approach to learning at Chatsworth. Dr Berry and myself provided some research supported reasons for the curriculum as well as the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.
The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better more peaceful world.
When students are put in the center of their learning, they became responsible f and take agency for their learning. Agency, according to the IB, is the power to take meaningful and intentional action, and acknowledges the rights and responsibilities of the individual, supporting voice, choice and ownership for everyone in the learning community.
