Thoughts from the Chatsworth Primary Hallway

Dear Primary Students, Parents and Guardians,

Today is the last day of the 2014-2015 school year. On behalf of the Primary Staff and Chatsworth Senior Leadership Team, I would like to thank you for your support this year.  It has been an incredible year of learning for our students as well as our teachers! A year of many changes and a lot of work in the development of curriculum as well as a review of many procedures. The core objective in the development of curriculum is always to ensure we support and encourage a passion for learning amongst our students.  The primary school is constantly growing and developing because those who work in the school have a passion for learning. It has been and will continue to be a passionate learning community.

With the excitement of the end of another school year comes the sadness of having to say goodbye to students and parents, as well as some of the teachers.  We say good luck to our Year 6 students as they move to the Secondary School. We wish you all the very best in your studies (remember the primary school is not so far away for you to drop in and say hi!). Many families are returning to their home country while others are onto their next expatriate experience. We wish you all the very best in your next adventures, whether is it back home, or in a new country.  We hope the Chatsworth experience will long live in your hearts.  For the teachers moving on, we thank you for your dedication and service to the Chatsworth International School - Orchard Campus.  We wish you all the very best for your next move: Mr. Alex Inman, Mrs. Sue Deeley, Ms. Ayeshah Tahirah, Ms. Angela Collins, Mrs. Marichelle Lister and Mr. Hamish Clark.

Wishing you all a safe and relaxing vacation and we look forward to welcoming those who are returning to Chatsworth in August.

From the PYP Coordinator

Congratulations to our newly elected House captains!

Today at our primary school assembly we had the new house captains for next school year announced. Our House system here at Chatsworth is an integral part of our programme to work towards developing the whole child. As well as our academic programme, as we have previously seen in former posts, we also aim to develop the child as an international and global person.

We do this through the attributes of the IB learner profile Inquirer, Knowledgeable, Thinker, Communicator, Principled, Open- Minded, Caring, Risk-Takers, Balanced, Reflective and the Primary Years Programme Essential Elements of transdisciplinary skills and attitudes.

We don’t have specific lessons at school to teach this, but rather it is embedded into our programme. We look for ways to develop these areas, for example by using links in our classroom lessons and of course by using the House system.

Congratulations again to the new house captains, I’m sure they will have a very enjoyable experience!
