Thoughts from the Chatsworth Primary Hallways

download.jpeg

There are lots of words associated with learning and from the image above you will notice words like work and do are not included.  When you think of how you learn and when I observe children in the classroom, words such as use, teach, people, time, think and workshop are evidenced in our classrooms.  When children are engaged in classes that are using what they have learned, when they are thinking about their learning, when they are given time to internalise their learning, then their learning becomes real. Completing a worksheet has its place, but is an act of doing. Creating is an act of learning, understanding and applying. When I wander around our classrooms I see some “doing”, but I see a lot of thinking and a lot of creating.
